Popcorn

Troop 722 Popcorn Sale 2019

Why do we sell popcorn?

The Fall Popcorn sale is Troop 722’s major fundraiser for the year and helps us support our programs for the boys.  70% of popcorn sales go directly to the Troop and Old Hickory Council, and we need the help of everyone to make this year’s fundraiser a success.

Who needs to sell popcorn?

All Scouts in Troop 722 need to sell popcorn or collect donations.  We need 100% participation!

Who should I approach to sell my popcorn to?

Neighbors, grandparents, uncles, aunts, teachers, long lost relatives, friends of friends!  Basically everyone loves popcorn! There are great flavors and fall is a great time to eat popcorn!  Many customers buy specifically to support Scouting, so always wear your Class A uniform when selling.  Sometimes, customers choose to show their support by making a Military Donation!  Don’t forget to mention this as an option!  Parents can help by bringing the forms to work so their work associates can participate.  And always remember Safety first!  Scouts should sell only when accompanied by a parent or guardian.  Scouts should never enter a stranger’s home when selling popcorn.

What are the key Dates and Information?

– Online Sales are open now go to https://www.trails-end.com/login and click on GET STARTED if you haven’t already.  This is a great way to sell to out of town friends & family.  Our Council is Old Hickory, District is Wachovia and Unit is Troop 722.

– The Order Form can be downloaded – HERE.

– Door-to-Door Sales start Sept. 14th and the last day for selling is Oct. 21st.

– Remember to bring in your order forms every Monday night so we can track everyone’s sales.

– Each scout needs to “do his best” and try to reach his individual sales goal of $500 to help the Troop.  If you don’t sell popcorn, you should be soliciting $200+ in donations to help the Troop.

– Order Forms are due Oct. 21st at our meeting.  Please mark order forms carefully and double check to be sure everything adds up and is totaled correctly.

– Popcorn pickup will be Friday Nov. 15th, 4-6PM at Highland, with final pickup Nov. 18th at our meeting.  So, you can tell your customers that they will get their popcorn the week of Thanksgiving.

– Money is due Nov. 25th at our meeting. People should pay when you deliver the popcorn.  Checks should be made out to Troop 722.  The Troop will do a one time money collection on Nov. 25th, so please make sure all money is collected by then.

– Military donations are tax deductible (receipts are available).

– If someone wants to contribute but does not want popcorn or to make a military donation, they can donate directly to us by making out a check to Troop 722 with the word “Donation” on the memo line.  Please keep donations separate from the popcorn money and mark them accordingly.

What’s in it for me?

Besides helping the Troop & Council, 19% of your total sales will be credited to your Scout Account!  The account can be used to offset the cost of registration, major trips, summer camp, high adventure trips, Eagle Projects, and Scout Store purchases.
